A Tribute to Sun Records

Sun Records played a crucial role in shaping the genres of rock and roll and rockabilly! Started in Memphis, Tennessee in 1952 by Sam Phillips, Sun Records grew into one of the most listened to record labels thanks to the groundbreaking recordings that came from many different emerging artists that would eventually become superstars!

Sun Records’ first hit song came in 1954 when Elvis Presley recorded “That’s All Right”. Elvis combined elements of the blues, country and R&B to develop a style never before experienced by many folks across the country! Elvis continued to pump out incredible music at Sun Records, solidifying his place as a musical icon and elevating the reputation of Sun Records.

Sun Diner is located in Jason Aldean’s building on the Parkway in Gatlinburg, in between Ben & Jerry’s and Ole Smoky Whiskey Barrelhouse. This Gatlinburg restaurant is located on the first floor and is the first part of Aldean’s restaurant to open.
